Truth and Lies

Jesus didn’t paint a rosy picture of how our lives would be when we follow Him. The Word of God is very clear that we will suffer and that we will be afraid at times. Jesus warned His disciples that they may face great persecution and even death for our faith - but our reward is eternity with Him. And, He will never leave us alone when we go through stuff - He will always be right there with us, our Helper the Holy Spirit will empower us to get through it. Jesus always tells us the truth and the cost of following Him is always worth it.

Our world and culture aren’t like that at all. The devil is always looking for ways to get us off track, out of God’s will and out of obedience to Him. He tries all kinds of trickery, but they are all lies or based on lies and He never tells you what the consequences will be. Satan appeals to our impulses and emotions to trap us and the cost is high and never worth it.

We live in a fallen world with evil all around parading itself as the ideal to strive for. The Word of God tells us the truth - don’t let yourself be found off guard! ”Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.“ I Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬
