Focus

Christine Ayala

Sometimes we confuse this with “positive thinking.” I know I have. I’m a naturally optimistic person - all of the glasses are half full rather than empty. I don’t give up on things… When I’ve committed or fixated on something, you can pretty much count on me getting it done. But sometimes I should just let it go. Sometimes the overcomer in me refuses to do that even when God wants me to.

I have a hard time listening to God when I’m focused on the circumstances - I must focus on His word and His voice.

You see, God is mostly about the process of discipleship, not the outcomes. He sees the whole picture and we don’t - even if we think we do. If the problem or the outcome becomes too important to us, then He might very well ask us to lay it down.
