Blessings and Curses

I’ve heard Christians say that we do t have to follow a lot of the rules and commands in the Old Testament because Jesus’s Way was just about love in the New Testament. But Jesus is the one who said this - “If you love me then obey my commands.” Jesus is God He IS the Word of God and He is the fulfillment of it too.

His commands took the ones in the Old Testament and augmented them - like:

-it’s not only a sin to kill someone, it’s a sin to hate them in your heart.

-it’s not just a sin to commit adultery, it’s a sin to lust after someone other than your spouse.

But the next verse tells us we don’t have to do it alone, and we probably can’t… so Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help us, comfort us, lead us and fight for us. Great blessings come from obedience- it’s a promise of God. But, great curses come from disobedience, this is also God’s promise. So please, choose life!

”This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live“

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30‬:‭19‬ ‭
